Hello and welcome to the new layout!
I’ve been a little MIA for the last little while. I have many reasons but the good news is that I kept writing so I have a lot of posts coming your way!
One of my goals this year was to get the new layout launch and here it is. Now, I’ll need to re-read my New Years Post to remember what else I was going to do this year. Haha! I do hope you enjoy the new look. It’s all thanks to my friends at 10am! Thanks guys!!
So IT’S MAY! I have yet to wrap my head around the fact that it’s 2015 and bam it’s MAY! Seriously, someone pinch me, please, because this dream that I’m living in is spinning out of control. In a really good way but still, time is flying. I officially have a one year old, I’m back at work (part time until E is 18 months), I’m going to be 33 (in November but still… I’m officially old), we’ll be living in our house for 9 years this September and on May 6th I’ll have been working on my career for 11 years (WOWWERS!).
One of the greatest lessons I learned with having E is stop, breath and slow down. I’ve realized this past year that I’m always in a rushing state (yet, I’m often late). Shortly after E was born, I decided that it was important for me to slow down and enjoy whatever stage that he was at. I’m so happy I realized this early on! Don’t get me wrong, I still rush but I’m starting to appreciate time more and I’m getting better at taking it easy. Dan does this really well, when he has the time, and he is a great teacher.
Anyway, I’m getting way off track! I really do hope you enjoy the new look as much as I do.
How is it February?!?! I have no idea where the time is going.
So remember my new years post… I wanted to write more. Haha! Well, good thing I still have 11 months to fix that.
I feel like I’ve been on autopilot – Dan has been super busy and I have somehow lost my focus. Dan goes back into the office most nights and I eat ice cream and watch Friends. It sounds so sad but really, have you ever watched Friends from start to finish… so good!
E-man is becoming more awesome everyday but I’m pretty tried by the end of the day that I just want to relax a little. Those few hours at night when he is sleeping and Dan is at work is my time. As amazing as it sounds, I’m not doing the things I want to get done. And BOOM…February has happened.
It’s time to get refocused and get things moving again! Just currently, me and E-man are sick so we just need to get over this and we’ll make things happen.
As for right now, I’m going to go have some coffee with Friends.
|He was 9 months on January 21!
The holiday season has now come and gone. It was the first for our little man and he really had no idea what was happening. He did enjoy eating the wrapping paper and being the hot potato that was passed around at multiple family events. He really was awesome and in the middle of it all he popped a tooth!
2014 Recap: What can I say 2014? You were beautiful. I’ve learned so much about myself this year and I have a better head on my shoulders because of it. Clearly, my favourite part about my year was becoming a mom. However, the best part of my year was the fact that I made my husband a father! When I see them together it just melts my heart. They amaze me everyday and I feel so lucky to have them both in my life.
This year wasn’t easy but when I sit back and look at my little family, I’m excited for the future. This year was the cornerstone that will shape the rest of our lives. I’m looking forward to what 2015 will bring!
Resolutions: Last year my resolution was to make 100 soups. Well, I think I made 10. I really wasn’t thinking about how many soups “100” actually is when I made the resolution. Oh my! I guess at this rate, 100 soups is a “Life Resolution”.
This year, I have many resolutions! Having a baby and being on mat
leave (not working) has really cleared my head. Time is going by so fast now and has allowed me to slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life much more. I now
know that family time is the most important part of the day! My
2015 resolutions are all about me, and that’s OK. But accomplishing them will benefit everyone in the family. As Dan would say, “Happy Wife, Happy Life!”
So here they are:
Learn more – I want to continue to grow and learn more about myself. This seems like a no-brainier but I think I’ve let this go for the last few years. Since I have less time to myself these days, I want to take advantage of the time I do have and really achieve something, such as reading a book.
Achieve more – In a few weeks I’ll introduce what I’ve been working on recently. I’m truly excited about this project like nothing I’ve worked on before! I have set a goal for myself to open an Etsy shop and go into a craft show. I’ve already said too much! You’ll just have to wait an see…
Move more – While preggers, I retired from kettlebells. I will pick that puppy up again.
Dwell less – Something I’ve learned this year was that I dwell a lot. I feel that this is something that has held me back and I want to move forward. I can’t do anything about the past but I can change my future. This fact is key to moving forward. Look, I’m already learning more!!
Blog more – I have a lot planned for 2015 including: a redesign, new recipes to me (can we say “bread”!), baby stuff, past travel stories and crafts.
Cheers to 2015 and new beginnings!
This year I thought it would be fun to partake in the Canadian Blogger Christmas Swap! I’m sooo soo happy that I did! My swapper was Brie from A Slice of Brie. She is also a new mommy this year and I’ve fallen in love with her little guy and her blog! It has been so much fun getting to know another blogger.
This past Tuesday, I received my Christmas Swap package. I was so excited to open it. I love getting mail because growing up, I had three pen-pals (you know who you are!). Do kids even do pen-pals still? Will E-man even know what a pen is? Haha! Anyway, I still get excited for the mail to this day. Even if it’s just the bills. Our pretty awesome milkdoor/mailbox combo thing helps with my excitement as well. Check out how cute this thing is!!
Brie left a lovely note saying that she wanted to find me something beautiful, unique and also timeless. She hit the nail on the head because I’m all of those things. Haha! She picked out the most beautiful ornament.
It has been placed at the top of our tree with the other very special ornaments. I’m not sure why but I’ve always put the most special ones at the top. Probably for its own protection.
I love it! Thank you Brie. I’m looking forward to doing this again next year!
|My sisters and me circa 1982!
Awww 32, nice to meet you. I think we’ll get along as long as you don’t make me feel old. I still haven’t figured out how 32 is possible! I can’t be 32, my sisters are! Sorry to my sisters, about that last comment, but you are older then me. 32. So crazy.
This past year I’ve learned so much about myself and I’m actually looking forward to this year. This past year was probably the most powerful year of my life. I traveled to Europe again, I became a Mom (wow) and I’ve entered my 10th year of working (I’m a 1/3 of the way done). Pretty epic. I’m proud of myself and the women that I’m becoming.
When I got engaged and married I had found a new level of confidence that I never knew before. As a new Mom, I’m starting to feel that way again. It’s very empowering. I recommend it! Look, I’m getting wise in my older age already!!
32, I welcome you with open arms!
